Pharmaceutics The Science of Dosage Form Design
Scientific principles of dosage form design; Particle science and powder technology; Bioharmaceutical principles of drug delivery; Dosage form design and manufacture
2001
A comprehensive textbook covering the design of dosage forms and all aspects of drug delivery systems. 'Pharmaceutics' in its broadest sense is the 'art of the apothecary' or, in simple terms, pharmaceutical preparations. It remains a diverse subject in the pharmacy curriculum, encompassing design of drugs, their manufacture, and the elimination of micro-organisms from the products. This books encompasses all those areas and pays particular attention to the design of dosage forms and their manufacture.
+ A logical, comprehensive account of drug design and manufacture - in one book
+ Includes important background information on the science of formulation and drug delivery
+ Chapters on microbiology and sterilisation - as appropriate for this subject - have been retained, in recognition of their usefulness for students seeking the "complete picture"
+ Highly illustrated and clearly written at a level understandable to students
+ Reorganised, so that information on particle science and powder technology has been moved to the beginning of the book (part 2) and the information on manufacture of drugs has been combined with dosage form design.
+ New chapters have been added on: Solid state properties of powders; Nasal delivery; Delivery of proteins/biotech products;
+ Many chapters have been combined to make for easier understanding,
