Chemical Process Equipment Selection and Design
Chemical Process Equipment is a results-oriented reference for engineers who specify, design, maintain or run chemical and process plants. This book delivers information on the selection, sizing and operation of process equipment in a format that enables quick and accurate decision making on standard process and equipment choices, saving time, improving productivity, and building understanding.

Chemical Process Equipment Selection and Design is intended as a guide to the selection or design of theprincipal kinds of chemical process equipment by engineers inschool and industry. The level of treatment assumes an elementaryknowledge of unit operations and transport phenomena. Access tothe many design and reference books listed in Chapter 1 is desir-able. For coherence, brief reviews of pertinent theory are provided.Emphasis is placed on shortcuts, rules of thumb, and data fordesign by analogy, often as primary design processes but also forquick evaluations of detailed work. All answers to process design questions cannot be put into abook. Even at this late date in the development of the chemicalindustry, it is common to hear authorities on most kinds of equip-ment say that their equipment can be properly fitted to a particulartask only on the basis of some direct laboratory and pilot plantwork. Nevertheless, much guidance and reassurance are obtainablefrom general experience and specific examples of successful appli-cations, which this book attempts to provide. Much of the infor-mation is supplied in numerous tables and figures, which oftendeserve careful study quite apart from the text.
